Bryan Hymel also performs in concert (Verdi’s Requiem with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Yannick Nézet-Séguin and with Donald Runnicles at the Edinburgh Festival, Walter Braunfels’ Jeanne d’Arc at the Salzburg Festival, Berlioz’s Requiem with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony at Milan’s La Scala under the direction of Gustavo Dudamel, and La Damnation de Faust with the London Symphony Orchestra). He also played Arnold in Guillaume Tell at the Bayerische Staatsoper. He sang the title role of Faust at the Santa Fe Opera, and then performed at the Chicago Opera in Anna Bolena (Lord Percy), the Washington Opera and La Scala in Carmen, the Paris Opera in La Damnation de Faust, and Berlin’s Deutsche Oper in Rigoletto (the Duke of Mantua).
He then appeared at the Frankfurt Opera in the title role of Puccini's Edgar, the Teatro Municipale, Salerno in Robert le Diable, the Dresden Semperoper in Der Rosenkavalier (the Italian Singer), and the Grand Opera in Houston in La Traviata (Alfredo). He made his debut at the Vienna Staatsoper, English National Opera and the Canadian Opera Company of Toronto in the role of Pinkerton, and at the Amsterdam National Opera and the San Francisco Opera in Les Troyens.
In the seasons which followed, he returned to Covent Garden for Rusalka, Les Troyens, Robert le diable, I Vespri Siciliani, Carmen, and Don Carlo and to the Metropolitan Opera for Madama Butterfly, La Bohème and Guillaume Tell. In 2011, he appeared at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich for the first time (as Ismaele in Nabucco) and in 2012 he made his debut at New York’s Metropolitan Opera (as Aeneas in Les Troyens). Bryan Hymel made his debut at London’s Covent Garden and Milan’s La Scala in 2010 (as Don José in Carmen).
